Welcome to THE ARTIST'S ATELIER WebSite! The Artist's Atelier is an art school established in 2004 by Maria J. Smith, a professional artist.
Located in Twin Falls, Idaho, the Atelier offers quality art instruction - intensive study and training in the traditional manner for serious artists who wish to achieve excellence in drawing and painting.
The Artist's Atelier is dedicated to the teaching of Art in the tradition of the Masters with a solid grounding in the basic Principles of Art and disciplined study leading to the mastery of the medium regardless of subject matter.

Classes at The Artist's Atelier are small (not more than 8 students), allowing for intensive one-on-one instruction tailored to the individual's needs at the time. Instruction is intended to create momentum for personal artistic growth with the objective of acquiring the ability to draw and/or paint complex forms in space - beautifully - in the realm of classical realism, and to a high degree of finish in the tradition of the Masters.
Instruction is for serious beginners through advanced, and for aspiring professionals.

An intensive, long-term program based on the traditional academic practices of the 19th century European ateliers that produced many great painters. This program provides a solid foundation in the principles of art and is designed to take a complete novice who "can't draw a straight line" to a competent and highly skilled oil painter, capable of painting any subject beautifully.
